After our last podcast, we have received emails and questions on exactly what scholarship or grant program we recommend for single mothers and moms to fund your education – so we are going to dedicate a short post just for that.
First off, we’re not going to waste your time. We know our readers and we know you want to get straight to the point immediately. If you’re one of those people we recommend checking out the very same grant program that got many of you where you are today.
We do understand there are a lot of scholarship and grant guides for mothers out there, and some of them are just OK. And some of them are complete junk. It’s really disappointing and disheartening to see so many empty promises. We’ve seen many grant/scholarship offers in the mail – only to find out they want a bunch of time and money up front. The Ann and Peter Ziegler Scholarship has been established through The CNM Foundation to assist women majoring in Liberal Arts who are single parents and who plan to transfer to a four-year institution.
Ann and Peter Ziegler Scholarship Eligibility:
-Major in liberal arts
-Plans to transfer to a four-year institution
-Be a single parent
-Have a 3.0 GPA or higher
-Enrolled in a minimum of 9 hours
-Completed at least 12 college level credits at CNM
-Maintain satisfactory academic progress
-Have a completed FAFSA and have unmet need

Scholarship Description
The purpose of the Arkansas Single Parent Scholarship Fund (ASPSF) is to provide supplemental financial assistance to those single parents living in Arkansas who are pursuing a course of instruction that will improve their income-earning potential. Guidelines for the manner in which the scholarship may be used are at the discretion of each scholarship provider.
Arkansas Single Parent Scholarship Fund Eligibility:
-Be a single parent living in Arkansas
-Considered economically disadvantaged
-Custodial care of one or more children under the age of 18
-Do not have a diploma or degree from a four-year institution of higher learning

Other guidelines vary from county to county and may include only approved programs of study, approved schools, income level, marital status, grade point average, and eligibility for federal financial aid.
